About Swift Lake
Swift Lake is an independent publication that turns public data into clear, readable analysis. We look at questions that matter to a global audience, such as prices, populations, technology and the economy, and we let the numbers lead.
How we work
- Public data only. We use open datasets from institutions such as the World Bank, the United Nations, Eurostat and research groups that publish their data openly.
- Every source is linked. Each article links to the datasets and papers it uses, so you can check the work or run your own.
- Licences respected. We follow each source's licence and citation rules, and we say clearly when a figure or chart is our own calculation.
- Neutral and timeless. We prefer questions that will still be worth asking next year, and we avoid taking sides on contested politics.
- Reviewed before publishing. We use software and AI tools to help with analysis and drafting. A human editor reviews every article before it goes live.
